Members of the St Catherine South Police Division have arrested a reputed gang leader following a targeted law-enforcement operation in Portmore, St Catherine.
The suspect, 40-year-old Courtney Ashley, otherwise called “Bloodstain,” is believed to be a central figure in several violent criminal investigations, including murder. Police identify Ashley as the alleged leader of the Bottom Mavervly Gang, with reported links to criminal networks operating along Yacca Avenue and 440 Drive.
Ashley was taken into custody on Monday in Phoenix Park, a gated community in Portmore, during what authorities described as a carefully planned operation. Investigators say he has been a long-standing target of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and was repeatedly featured in the Force’s Wanted Wednesdays campaign.
According to police, Ashley is being sought in connection with the 2017 killing of Andrew Foster, as well as a separate incident on Fenbrook Avenue in St Andrew that left another man injured. He is also under investigation for several other violent crimes, including a recent double homicide in the St Andrew South division.
In September last year, the JCF announced that it had intensified efforts to locate Ashley, whose last known address was listed as Abby Close, Leas Flat in Red Hills, St Andrew. Authorities noted that he had previously evaded capture during a major security operation on July 21, 2025, along Jacks Hill Road in St Andrew.
That operation, led by the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch, reportedly disrupted a planned contract killing. Five men were fatally shot during the incident, and five firearms were seized. Ashley was named as an alleged sixth participant but managed to escape at the time.
Police have not yet disclosed the specific charges Ashley is expected to face. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
