Murder Suspect Dies After Accidental Self-Inflicted Gunshot During TikTok Live in Guyana

A 24-year-old man who was wanted for murder died on Sunday after accidentally shooting himself in the head while livestreaming on TikTok. The man, Jamal Bourne, also known as “Skinny,” was broadcasting from Stanleytown on the West Bank of Demerara, Guyana, when the fatal incident occurred.

According to reports, Bourne was interacting with viewers during the live stream when he began displaying multiple firearms. Video footage circulating online shows him wearing a ski mask while highlighting the weapons. Another masked man was also present, initially holding a knife before switching to a handgun.

At one point, Bourne is seen handling a firearm, repeatedly pointing it at his head while singing. He appeared to taunt viewers by squeezing the trigger lightly and showing both a bullet in the chamber and a loaded magazine. Moments later, after removing the magazine but apparently leaving a round chambered, Bourne aimed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger.

The gun discharged, and Bourne collapsed onto the other masked individual, who immediately turned the camera away. Screams were heard in the background before the livestream abruptly ended. Some viewers later claimed they saw a small amount of blood at the point where the weapon was aimed.

Authorities subsequently confirmed that Bourne died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At the time of his death, he was the subject of an active manhunt by the Guyana Police Force in connection with the September 12, 2024, murder of Akeem Hamer, also known as “Max.” That killing reportedly took place at Samaroo Dam in Pouderoyen.

Police had previously issued a wanted bulletin for Bourne and another suspect, Roman Roberts. Investigators say Bourne was last known to be living at Lot 14, Fifth Avenue, Diamond, East Bank Demerara. Authorities are now examining the circumstances surrounding the livestream and the firearms shown in the video. The identity and role of the second individual seen in the footage remain under investigation.
